The application that runs the business, rebuilt off its legacy foundation without taking it offline.

AI Enablement Workshops Forge
We rebuild the legacy system in place, on Conntinuum, our AI-native platform. The legacy stack stays running while we replace it from the inside out. Spec-driven, incremental, and delivered when promised. Ready to discuss your modernization project? Open a Spark Lab session below to discuss initial details with one of our AI Product Strategists, or just get in touch and schedule a call with our team.
In practice
A few ways Modernize shows up. Find the one that sounds like you.
The application that runs the business, rebuilt off its legacy foundation without taking it offline.
The structure underneath, reworked so the system stops being expensive to change.
Several overlapping systems folded into one, with the data carried forward.
Not a lift-and-shift. The architecture rebuilt to actually use the platform you moved to.
The way the software is built and run, modernized alongside the code.
What we hear
“A firm talked us into a full rewrite. Two years, a parallel team, and a promise that one day we'd flip a switch and the old system would be gone.”
“We're eighteen months in, the switch keeps moving, and the new system still does not do what the old one did on a Tuesday.”
“Meanwhile the business kept changing, and now the rewrite is behind on a moving target.”
“Nobody has rewritten anything. We have patched the legacy system so many times that the patches have patches.”
“Every change is a careful negotiation with code no one fully understands, written by people who left years ago.”
“It still runs, technically. It just costs more every quarter to keep it from falling over.”
“We were told moving to the cloud was modernization, so we lifted the legacy application and shifted it, more or less as-is, onto someone else's servers.”
“The architecture never changed. Same brittle system, same constraints, a bigger monthly bill.”
“And we are still calling it a transformation.”
The work
Four modernizations, four legacy systems that never went dark. Each one started by finding the value worth saving, then delivered it.
Logistics & Transportation
A freight forwarding and customs platform rebuilt in place against the live customer base. We captured the running system's behavior as a testable spec, then refactored in phases with the legacy stack still in production, so there was never a cutover event. AI assists document extraction and classification; people decide every customs call.

Technology & Software
A multi-phase modernization of a legacy .NET product, covering engineering, architecture, product management, and support. The Client kept the product, the customer contracts, and the revenue while we modernized the platform underneath. Their customers include government road authorities.

Professional Services
A facility-management software platform modernized off its legacy foundation, onto a stack the team can keep building on.
How it works
Open Spark Lab and map your legacy system and a path off it, or book a call if you've already done that. Either way, the first thing we do is decide whether a rebuild is even worth it. Sometimes the answer is Build, Operate, or Strategize.
We capture what the running system actually does as a clear, testable spec, held on Conntinuum. The running system is the most honest spec there is, and we treat it that way.
Scope, cost, and the date we commit to, against that spec, including any parallel-run periods.
We rebuild in place, in phases, with the legacy stack still serving customers. No big-bang switch, no dark weekend.
We move to the new system on the schedule we committed to, and hand off something your team can operate. If you'd rather we keep running it, that is Operate.
Engagement shapes
Two ways to buy a Modernize engagement, and when each is the right call.
A bounded legacy system, a named target state, milestone-priced including the parallel-run periods. True fixed-scope.
When it fits: the system to modernize is well-defined and you want a fixed budget and date.
An embedded senior team working alongside your engineers across a multi-quarter program, AI-native and continuous. More flexible than Outcome-Based: you can lead and redirect as priorities shift.
When it fits: a long modernization where the scope will evolve.
The platform
Modernize runs on Conntinuum, our AI-native platform. It captures the behavior of the legacy system as a clear, testable spec, then holds that spec as the single source of truth from estimate through cutover, with security, traceability, and observability built in. Our spec-driven team of AI agents accelerates the build, orchestrated by our senior product managers, designers, and product engineers, who hold final approval before anything ships. That is how we rebuild in place without a big-bang surprise, and how we can say "delivered when promised" and mean it.

Honest routing
Modernize is not always the answer, and we'll say so.
At the end of the day, our service lines don't matter. It's all about what you need. We'll help guide you to the right way to address your challenge, and we'll even be brutally honest if we aren't the best partner for the job.
The Promise
If we cannot see real value for you in the work you want and how we deliver it, we will tell you. Before you sign. Before you spend.
That is the Promise, and it is operational, not aspirational. We surface what you are trying to do, we route it to the right outcome, and we tell you whether we think the work is the right call for you. Sometimes the answer is "this is the wrong shape" or "you need a different firm." Sometimes it is "we can do this, but here is what it costs, and here is when it lands." We would rather lose the work honestly than win it and not deliver the value you need.
Get started
Start hands-on. Open Spark Lab and map your legacy system and a path off it, before you talk to anyone. Prefer to start with a conversation? Get in touch and we'll point you to the right outcome.
If we are, we will tell you what the work looks like. If we are not, we will tell you that too, and point you toward someone who is. Sometimes the right answer is "not yet."
